Road safety is important especially now that at least 1.3 million people die from road crashes every year, according to the Association for Safe International Road Travel.
Sprint Drive First:-
Telecommunications company Sprint launched a car safety app that automatically activates when the phone is in motion. When it senses that the car is moving faster than 10mph, it prevents phones from making any texts, calls, emails, or carrying out any other function. While activated, all phone calls are automatically directed to the user’s voice mail.
The app has a 15-day free trial, after which users need to pay a $2 fee per month.
Safe Driver:-
Safe Driver was especially made for newly-licensed teens. The app closely monitors the driving habits of teens, pinpoints their location, and alerts parents when speed limits are breached. Like the Sprint Drive First, Safe Driver locks the user’s phone when the car is in motion, and sends a text message to the rejected calls.
The app is free for both iOS and Android users.
Trucker Path:-
Trucker Path is an app that gives information about driver-oriented points of interests. Users can find directions to rest and identify where truck stops are, as well as view locations to see if adequate parking is available. The app’s built-in user review system lets truck drivers know which stops have bad service.
Apart from the locations of these stops, Trucker Path has a planner that lets drivers plan out their routes in advance. The app also allows drivers to alert each other of any road accidents. As a lot of commercial driving takes place during the night, the app has a night mode that improves road safety. The night mode limits the strain on the driver’s eyes and helps them stay focused on the road.
Fleetmatics’ LogBook App:-
Fleetmatics’ LogBook App is for fleet managers who need to be fully compliant with road safety measures mandated by the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The new mandate that requires fleet vehicles to install an ELD will be implemented in December.
The LogBook App makes the roads safer by advising drivers of potential health hazards such as driving for long periods of time without rest. This makes it one of the best apps to be paired with the Trucker Path application.
The app also warns drivers of potential violations on the road. In addition, the LogBook app also shows if a fleet vehicle is complying with road safety regulations.
Motorcycle Safety MotoSave:-

The app monitors a user’s movement through its integrated speedometer. When the app doesn’t detect movement for 4 minutes, a dialogue window will open and the phone will vibrate. If the user doesn’t respond to the dialogue window, the app will automatically send the SOS text message.
